Hello everyone. I’m thinking about moving from my desktop to a laptop soon, aiming for a simpler setup and some flexibility for mobility ahead. Any suggestions would be really helpful.

Budget-wise, I’m looking at around 2500 CAD maximum, though it might go a bit higher if the upgrades are significant.
Regarding the notebook size, there’s no specific preference—I’m open to any size.
For screen resolution, I’m thinking 1920:1080.
I’m not sure if you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop.
As for battery life, it would be fine if it stays plugged in most of the time; otherwise, I’d prefer something that lasts longer on a single charge.
If you’re interested in playing games, here are some options: Dead by Daylight, Skyrim, World of Warcraft, New World, Rust, Conan Exiles, VR Chat with VR enabled. I’m okay with low settings, but most of the games I play are quite demanding on the graphics card.
I’d also like to do photo and video editing, as well as streaming video games. Recently, uploading a 45-minute video caused my system to use about 15 GB of memory, which made me think I might need around 32 GB of RAM for smooth editing. Also, since I work with color in art projects, good monitor color quality is important.
In terms of storage, I’m planning roughly 500 GB on an external drive, as that’s what I usually use.
If you have any specific sites in mind to purchase from, please share the links—I’ve used those before.
I’ve used websites like memoryexpress.com and Lenovo’s site before. I also check out https://www.lenovo.com/ca.
How long do you plan to keep the laptop? As long as it fits within my budget, since it’s a significant investment.
For storage devices, I’m thinking about around 500 GB, as most of my files are stored externally.
Regarding optical drives, I’m not sure if I need one. I don’t remember using a CD recently. If you have any, feel free to mention them.
Please let me know your preferred brands and any you dislike, along with the reasons. I remember a Lenovo writing computer with great typing keys and good build quality, but I’ve heard mixed things about Ryzen processors—especially their high temperatures. I’m a bit wary, but I think Intel might be more reliable for a CPU right now.
I’m from Canada.

Typically it is connected when not in use, but always discharge the laptop's battery to 10% after charging it fully. This practice supports better battery performance. Many users report issues with battery failure because the device remains plugged in continuously. The recommended options from the two preferred sources are:
https://www.memoryexpress.com/Categ...dc0e-b59fb10b7331&Sort=PriceDesc&PageSize=120
and
https://www.lenovo.com/ca/en/d/gaming-la...tType=grid
Lenovo's selections can be adjusted as needed.
