Hello everyone, I’m seeking guidance on organizing a fresh SFF build for transport across the country for school purposes. I’ve compiled a general parts list, but my familiarity with PC components has been limited since my last build a few years ago. Any suggestions or adjustments would be greatly appreciated.

The approximate purchase window is soon—uncertain if I’ll assemble it on-site or bring it along. The budget is roughly 2500 to 3000 CAD, including taxes, and I’m aiming for the more affordable option.

Usage priorities range from gaming (mainly FPS titles but also strategy, single-player, RPGs) to schoolwork and creative projects like photo/video editing with Photoshop and Premiere Pro.

Monitor purchase: Yes, a recommendation would be helpful. A size around 30-32 inches at 1440p would be ideal, with a high refresh rate being preferred.

Preferred purchasing platforms include Amazon, Newegg, Best Buy, Canada Computers, Memory Express, etc. Delivery time is important, so I’m considering locations like Vancouver or Montreal.

Component preferences: Currently leaning toward Intel, but no strong preference either way. GPU choice is also undecided.

Overclocking capability: Yes, if feasible.

You could proceed as planned. Here are some ideas: The 13th generation processors tend to overheat, yet they’re built for high temperatures—up to 100°C. For optimal results, consider these tips: Read this article: Core i9-13900K Cooling Guide: Testing Intel's Flagship With Budget Air and Big AIOs The Core i9-13900K can push even the most powerful liquid coolers to their limits, but maintaining performance is still possible with affordable air cooling. You can also achieve good results using a reliable budget air cooler. In video format: View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNFgswzTvyc A solid air cooler works just as well. The NR200 supports a 155mm tall cooler. Noctua provides a curated list of compatible coolers for the 13700K, including: INTEL Core i7-13700K | CPU Compatibility | Noctua Compatibility Centre Series: Raptor Lake-S, Socket: LGA 1700 ncc.noctua.at The NH D12L stands out at 145mm tall. NH-D12L This compact 120mm cooler offers quiet performance and fits many 4U cases or narrower tower builds. noctua.at Although the Canadian price is high, the Lian Li TU150 case is a worthwhile alternative. It’s lightweight and portable, capable of handling even a NH-D15 cooler. https://www.newegg.ca/p/2AM-000Z-00051 I’d suggest using one 2TB M.2 drive at the start. Having two devices doesn’t add much performance and simplifies space management.

Thanks for the response, I'll definitely move to a single SSD. It's unclear why I chose two in the list. I'm still undecided between air cooling and AIO, but the Deepcool model seems appealing and significantly more affordable than the Corsair.

Thanks for the update! It wasn't something I considered before, but the measurements look fine. I've used the NH-D15 before, so I'm excited to try it out. The Lian Li case seems tough, though—I'm a bit worried about using tempered glass in a suitcase.
