Hello everyone,

I’m considering purchasing a computer capable of running Rome: Total War 2 at high settings while maintaining a consistent frame rate. I’ll primarily be playing older games, but Rome 2 will require the most demanding performance. My main concern is ensuring a smooth gaming experience, rather than focusing on visual fidelity. Any suggestions would be greatly valued.

Thanks.

Provide us with a price range and we can source an excellent computer for you.
😊
Are there any additional accessories, such as mice, keyboards, or monitors, that you require?

The tower costs between three hundred and four hundred pounds. I’m not concerned about it being cutting-edge because I've recently purchased a home, and my man cave project will take a year or so to complete, with plans for an upgrade later. It’s simply intended for now. I trust that clarifies things. Thank you.

You're realistically limited to a 3400 graphics processor unit (APU). In approximately two minutes, I’ll share a list.

Thank you for the list. What graphics card would I require to run the games I’m interested in?

That device contains a graphics card, but you’d need to consult the game's minimum specifications to confirm. Listing a 512GB DX9 card as minimal and a 1GB DX11 card as recommended for Warhammer II is misleading. However, I’ve successfully utilized a 2400g card to smoothly run games like Overwatch at 1080p on low settings, and Doom was playable at 900p on low, with significantly improved performance at 720p or 768p, consistently exceeding 60 frames per second. Furthermore, adding additional RAM and a more powerful graphics card – potentially also increased storage capacity – would likely enhance the system’s performance for a wide range of applications.
