Typically after a Linux setup, people seek flexible systems that cut costs via open-source tools. For particular security needs, alternatives like Xen or LXC may be used. When privacy matters, a freshly created Tails ISO works well.

Before the pandemic shifted everything online, I was quite involved in my local LUG community wherever I resided. From what I've seen, most folks who care about Linux avoid Microsoft's tracking data and generally prefer simple home server setups using their own gear. Running regular web searches through a live Tails ISO isn't just too intrusive—it's also much more frustrating than most people would tolerate. For anyone new to Linux, I don't see any popular distro that doesn't prioritize strong privacy features.

Linux emulation on Windows doesn't ensure privacy or security. The main risk remains a compromised Windows system. Regarding the pandemic, HP has released promotional clips titled "The Wolf".
