Seeking a fresh 2-player survival or crafting title with growth elements.
Hello! I'm searching for a 2-player survival or crafting game with solid progression and maybe building elements. We enjoyed Raft a lot and are nearing completion of V Rising (just us two). Conan Exiles is on my list, but if you have another idea in mind, feel free to share! Thanks!
We enjoy those games as well. Our top pick is likely Ark. We also like Conan. The Forest was quite enjoyable, as were Green Hell. Both had basic structures compared to Ark or Conan, but the settings and survival challenges were impressive (though tough). I’d say Green Hell was the stronger choice between the two. Edit: I’m also a big fan of 7 Days to Die. It offers deep building, is voxel-based like Minecraft, letting you reshape the landscape as you wish—just don’t mind the zombies. You can adjust many settings to change difficulty. Edit 2: Both Forest and Green Hell have blueprints you’ll need to uncover, a story you can follow or just endure in the open world. Neither featured traditional character progression, but Ark, Conan, and 7 Days to Die include RPG-style skill and leveling up.
It actually brings the experience a bit closer to real life, doesn't it? Living through tough times on a deserted island with dangerous creatures is definitely challenging. I’d probably play more if I weren’t afraid of the dark—seriously, I get scared in games too! It’s hard to stay fully engaged when you’re worried about the unknown.
I genuinely love ARK. We've booked an affordable server for three and just hang out occasionally. Enjoying taming, riding dinosaurs, and exploring caves is rewarding—especially when you're up for the challenge. It's as tough as Valheim, but that's part of the fun. The sense of progress feels satisfying and not like a meaningless grind.
Valheim was enjoyable, though it doesn’t seem to offer much replay value on its own. I really liked my initial experience. For our group, which focuses mainly on PVE and private servers, a dedicated server isn’t essential for just two people. We’re a core group of four (two couples) aiming to stay connected regardless of who’s online.
We started playing some Conan, it's extremely fun so far. The Forest gives me extreme motion sickness, I assume Green Hell will as well... it's unfortunate because I had fun for a few minutes before almost collapsing :^) I'll check the other suggestions, thanks! Don't Starve Together sounds like a great option, thanks! I've had it in my Steam library ever since it came out and never opened it once... Absolutely, Valheim is amazing. Played it for a few hours when it came out, we should definitely replay it. Thanks!
Have you played Terraria? I enjoyed it a lot with a friend. We created different traps for the undead and creatures beneath our settlement. The game does have a sense of advancement.
Yes. Very cool game. I like starbound a bit better, but that is really preference. They are both amazing games with tons of hours to sink into and you can't go wrong with either. I wish controller support was better on both. It just plays a million times better on mouse and keyboard
