Looking into how IGPUs handled performance in older titles for Vega 8. If you have a game from 2004 or earlier that runs at 4K resolution with a fixed 60fps, let me know and I’ll check the utilization details.

You’re definitely free to give it a shot. No one should be able to prevent you. Whether it succeeds depends on other factors. From what I know, Vega7 and the top-end Intel GPUs are roughly comparable. Vega8 should outperform them slightly but not dramatically. Remember that IGPs rely on system memory, and 4K demands a lot of it. Also, DDR5 offers better performance than DDR4 due to higher bandwidth, which could be important. If you have plenty of DDR5, it’s unlikely to be an issue. If you’re limited to DDR4, it might not work well either. You’ll likely run out of memory quickly, limiting what you can achieve.

I can confidently note that Unreal Tournament 2004 in 4K on a Vega 8 (powered by a 4500u) doesn't consistently maintain steady 60 FPS during high settings. The same applies to Half-Life 2.

The setup seems more aligned with DDR5 technology rather than a significant amount of DDR4.

It was really tough playing HL2 at the time, and I guess Valve improved certain aspects—like making water look better. I’m not sure much about UT2004, but thanks!

You won't be able to use DDR5 with Vega 8 CPU and AM4 socket. It worked well with Vega 7 and a good graphics card, allowing you to play games like Half-Life 2 at full resolution.

The setup I'm creating can't be sold on OC (original equipment compatibility). While it's not completely out of reach, handling the thermal issues in this design is really tough.

It should function without an OC even in pre-2010 titles, and these processors consume minimal power while using the built-in GPU efficiently.
