I have a server functioning as a seed box and NAS. I aim to enhance my home network with a local VPN for secure remote access to the NAS. Would it be wise to run the VPN and other services through virtualization on the same machine? I’m also considering switching to a dedicated NAS OS, as I’m currently using an Ubuntu server with a mid-range processor and sufficient RAM. Performance shouldn’t be a concern here. However, online searches often raise concerns about connecting via a hypervisor for VPNs. Please let me know if you have more questions.

It depends on what you need—containers offer flexibility and light weight, while a native OS setup can be simpler. NAS OS gives a unique feel, and I’m considering switching to Unraid. My VPN is handled via the router, so I haven’t explored that option yet.
