Secure your boot drive completely.
I’ve been facing a problem over the last 24 hours regarding permissions on my C (Boot) drive in Windows 10 Home. I started saving everything to my 2 TB external hard drive and wanted to store my Curse Client directly on the C drive without any folders—just files. When I tried to save without a folder, a warning popped up saying I lacked the right permissions. I assumed this was an issue with Curse’s side and tried saving a .txt file, which worked only when saved in a folder. I realized I couldn’t just save files directly to C drive without a folder, which I could do on my external drive. I attempted to change ownership via Properties > Advanced > Change Owner, but the owner listed was “trustedinstaller.” After adding my name, it worked. However, when I tried to apply this to all folders and subfolders, I received numerous error messages like “values could not be enumerated in bla bla bla file” or “you don’t have the privileges for bla bla bla.” I cleared Task Manager settings and decided to restart with a fresh Windows installation from my thumb drive. After rebooting, I deleted and reformatted my SSD boot drive. When I logged back in, I thought the issue was resolved. To test further, I opened Notepad, typed random text, and tried saving it to C without creating a file—this failed again with the same permission error. I’m unsure what to do next but have another SSD available if this is the problem. Any advice would be appreciated!
