Hey everyone, still staying with my parents during my teenage years, but I’m the one using the internet at home. My family gets an unlimited hotspot with decent service, while I pay for it myself. We’ve been hitting the 1.2 TB limit for the past three months—costing $10 for every 50 GB over. I’m furious I had to pay an extra $10 this month. Curious about what it’d cost to switch to unlimited, I started checking prices.

For comparison, if you already own your gear, it’s $11 per month more; with your own setup, it’s $35. After doing some digging, I found a deal: if you wait too long, the rep pushed a 1.2 GB down 35 MB plan with an 11/MO upgrade at roughly the same rate as my current plan. I grabbed it because I jumped from 200 Mbps down to 1200 Mbps for the same price! The only downsides were auto-pay and a one-year contract.

TL;DR: How to boost your internet speed in just a few steps
- Confirm you haven’t changed your speed recently (last update was 2018).
- Bring your modem to the store.
- Chat with the rep about unlimited data—ask if they can match their current rate.
- Pick a faster model, especially if you have the gig plan.
- Upgrade to the short and stubby black modem.
- Test with Ethernet and demand full speed.
- If you go for 4K streaming, request an XFi-Pod.
- Don’t forget a flex streaming box for 4K.

Attached are my usage logs and Eero’s speed test results.

Avoid letting the most disliked firm in the country gain unrestricted entry into your financial accounts. Their payment issues are widely recognized and numerous.

You need coverage in your region for this service. Comcast doesn’t offer internet deals outside your area, which is understandable. It’s great when they have issues, but it can be frustrating when things go wrong. My sister discovered this too.

I haven't encountered any problems myself. My bank offers safeguards to stop overdrafts, but those are a different service I cover with extra fees.

Many residents in my area are becoming annoyed with Comcast and moving to mobile options. The city also planned to install gigabit fiber for everyone, but the project was pushed back to 2023 after being originally set for August 2020.

I checked T Mobile's home internet service. Without gaming, I might change providers. They've handled more than 950 gigabytes each month over the past three months. If you offer unlimited data, I'll definitely consider it.

I installed it using a prepaid Walmart card. It’s a convenient solution. I also process some payments this way. They offer a saved card that isn’t tied to my bank account.

Understanding Comcast means you won't get anything for free. Just keep waiting—you'll eventually pay, and at your age, you'll learn a tough truth. If you manage to escape this, you'll be among the rare and fortunate few.

This deal is definitely worth it. It starts at under $100 a month, with increases after the first year and again in the third year, eventually reaching full price. I opted for it because it stays around $100 a month, includes their modem, straight internet service, 1GB data connection, and no hidden fees. I’m sticking to it. I’ve already saved up to that point. About four or five years ago, I dropped the cable TV package (the double play) and have been sticking with Xfinity at $100 a month for this duration. As soon as they raise the price, they call me directly. In short, from my side, I won’t pay more than $100 for internet—we can adjust speeds right now. Remember when Comcast’s 12mb speeds were so fast around 2008? Haha!
