I have an Ethernet port in the attic connecting your router to a computer in the living room. I want to add a Wi-Fi extender that uses that main line while keeping a port for the living room computer. The kids are getting a Quest 2 this Christmas, and I doubt the signal from my office will be strong enough. Can anyone suggest a good option? My router model is Linksys WRT3200.

Consider using a switch and an access point instead. Would it be better to have just two devices? You could opt for a unified access point such as a UniFi AC or a TP-Link Omada AP.

Your old Linksys E3000 wireless-N router could function as a bridge, but its performance may be limited by its age and capabilities.

Set up the old Linksys E3000 as a Wi-Fi booster. No bridge required because I’m not bridging over Wi-Fi. DHCP disabled on the second router. Assigned static IP (10.0.0.1 for main, 10.0.0.2 for secondary). Connected the computer and wall network cables to regular router ports (not WAN). Configured Wi-Fi with identical broadcast IDs and passwords as the main router but using different channels. Everything seems to be functioning properly. Fingers crossed we’ll be Oculus Quest 2 ready by Christmas morning!
