Hello! You're considering an AM4 build with a Ryzen 7 5700X and using it for light video editing. You're comparing two motherboards—one with more USB ports and another with better power stages. Since the price difference is minimal, the main factor is likely the USB A port count and performance expectations. The X570 offers more USB-A ports, which can be useful depending on your setup, while the B550 has a slight edge in power delivery. For a Ryzen 7, the extra USB ports might not be critical unless you plan to connect many peripherals. Based on this, the X570 could be slightly better if you prioritize power and stability, but either choice works well for your needs.

the specific models of the motherboards are listed. the x570 was released about a year prior to the b550, and i've noticed that boards from the same line as the b550 have inferior power delivery compared to the x570 versions. (asrock x570 and b550 extreme4)

I chose the B550. I checked more reviews and basically everyone said it’s pretty much the same. The X570 doesn’t stand out much, but the B550 has that extra USB-A port on the I/O side, which makes a difference.

I was ready to repeat what I said earlier—the B550 model stands out. It offers superior I/O features such as additional USB ports and a 2.5G Ethernet connection. All the components are present, though the VRMs are simply improved. A solid pick!
