Recently, Call of Duty Modern Warfare showed my CPU struggles in current titles. Checking the hardware, the i5 6600 is limiting the GPU performance (1060 6GB). I need to begin streaming gameplay and have failed with anything more intense than Minecraft because of this CPU issue. My setup: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/bman7842/saved/LXQycf Current motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H110M-A Micro ATX LGA1151 Are there good upgrades that still work with this board? I’d rather not change the board unless absolutely needed. I’m interested in what higher-end CPUs are available today that fit this socket and are compatible with my board. I won’t be overclocking, but I might consider BIOS updates if required to support newer chips.

Search for a refurbished i7 6700 or i7 7700 on eBay, making sure to check for BIOS updates.

Great, I'll likely aim for 7700 next time.

Truly, given the cost of most 7700 models, it makes sense to opt for a Ryzen 2600 and an AMD motherboard instead.

You're right to notice their pricing on eBay—it's interesting how much they're pushing it. For AM4 boards, I'm not sure about specific recommendations, but you might want to explore mid-range options that fit your needs. Regarding Ryzen CPUs, the new models aren't officially compatible with AMD sockets yet, so you'd need a board designed for those chips. Let me know if you'd like more details!

AM4 seems to be compatible with only one more generation. It doesn’t support ThreadRipper. You might find the 2600 at the NewEgg eBay store for $109, or I’d hold off until after Black Friday for a motherboard.
