Searching for an MMO.
Searching for an MMO.
Hey there! So I just started playing Warframe and it’s been a fun experience so far. The main issue is that even though it’s marketed as a cooperative game, it mostly feels like solo play with minimal teamwork—mostly just reviving each other when needed. Since I joined later, I missed out on the early founder packs and some other perks. Still, I’m planning to keep playing. Looking for alternatives, here are my key points:
- Should be free or soon become free
- Needs to support co-op with friends
- Available in alpha, closed beta, or open beta (I prefer not to jump into a finished product)
- Exceptions allowed if founder packs are still available for a new MMO
- No pay-to-win model
- Nice graphics similar to Warframe
- Preferred genre: MMO, Third Person Shooter or MMORPG (flexible)
- Should be on Steam or have plans to launch there
Any other thoughts? Appreciate the advice!
Firefall is what comes to mind for me. I generally prefer not to play any MMO games except Planetside 2, which could be a better fit for you.
Planetside 2 or GTFO available. Consider trying World of Tanks or Warthunder.
He seems to have played it before, since he wanted a game with similar visuals. I made good progress. I had a fully modded Dread that could handle most challenges, plus the really old Galatine (seriously, it was so powerful). Later it turned into a tough grind for Prime items and I lost interest... D: (I finally got Paris Prime and another one, though I’m not sure what).
Why is beta always necessary? That’s just weird! But seriously, finished games are worth it. Those extra features often don’t add much value. I really like SMITE—it’s great for teamwork, especially with voice chat. It’s a third-person MOBA that emphasizes skillful shots and action.
Thanks for the updates, I'll check out Defiance now. As Nineshadow mentioned, I've already tried it and will keep playing with some friends. The main issue is our time zones and schedules making it tricky. I’m not planning to quit Warframe anytime soon; I just need an alternative I can support from the start. Missing out on exclusive content in a game I enjoy is frustrating. I’ve played Payday the Heist and Payday 2 multiple times with friends, getting tired of them until the next new release. Also, Planetside 2 was fun at first but quickly became boring because it lacked clear objectives—playing felt more like casual exploration. We ended up competing with each other just because we were bored. Regarding War Thunder and World of Tanks, I generally dislike military-themed games, though I don’t have any objections to them personally. @SirRoderick I’m okay making an exception for finished titles, provided the game still has its “founder” packs available. This brings back that nagging thought I had about missing out on some exclusive features. I’ve updated my initial comment to reflect this.
