I'm looking to customize a SFF case by modifying its power supply cable. I've searched extensively but only found a handful from China, and the PS angle plug is too long. The current cable measures just over 15 inches, 400mm, which falls short of the required minimum of 500mm, preferably 600mm. If I can't find a suitable longer option, I plan to cut and modify the existing one to extend it, as I can easily section it. To reassure anyone worried about altering the original cable, I want to emphasize my background: I'm a union electrician with two decades of experience in high-end electronics for the US Navy, so I'm confident in handling this safely.
Thanks,
Rick

Hello there, new member! Would you consider making up a cable for your PSU? You could also wrap it up.

Thank you for the welcome.
I could manage as long as I locate a discreet angle plug to connect to the PS.
Or even directly wire the PS end if no plug is available.

You might be better off making the changes yourself or using an extension cable to lengthen the short one if you're not confident in soldering wires together. I understand I would do it myself, but I'd rather avoid hardwiring it. This would void the warranty, and if I ever need to replace or upgrade it, you could handle that.

Yep, going to extend it, got to dig up some nylon sleeve and heat shrink out of storage. I like to silver solder connections but in this case I think I will crimp them, I have bare round crimps, stagger the connections then use two layers of heat shrink over each connection, sleeve the whole cable and heat shrink next to the plugs. I hope I have waterproof heat shrink in the right size but regular will be fine as well.
Thanks!
