Ultimately decided to cancel and place an order for an AQC113C card, expecting quicker delivery. It appears certain users have succeeded by connecting it via PCIe 4.0, as the chip is compatible. Reviewers noted a potential boost to 9-9.2Gbit on 3.0x1, though it wasn't considered a major performance jump.

Interesting fact about PCIe promotion. Previously believed there were only specific configurations like x1, x4, x8, and x16 for lane usage.

I think it's marketing because selling an x1 card will limit the number of sales. if it doesn't work the OWC 10G card is speced at 4.0 and is only $20 more its easy to return on Amazon.
