Hello everyone I received a call from my parents today about their modem router appearing to fail. They’re using a tp-link w9970, which my dad bought as the most affordable option he found. The connection has been dropping intermittently—first every few days, then more frequently and with increasing downtime. They’re hoping to replace it soon and asked me to help them find a suitable model. It’s been a while since I checked out routers, so I’m not familiar with current options. Could anyone suggest budget-friendly modem routers or setups that can support 5-6 devices at once?

It might be the router, but a physical connection issue could also be the cause. Do you hear any distortion when the DSL signal is dropped?
