I’m searching for a solid gaming laptop under 800 dollars. My current Dell Inspiron model runs an i7-7700hq, GTX 1050 Ti, 16GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM, and a 128 SSD with a 1TB HDD combo or storage. The HP Pavilion gaming laptop is the one I’m most interested in, priced around 650-750 depending on the model and retailer.

The 700 dollar version features:
- Ryzen 5-4600h
- 8GB of 3200MHz DDR4 RAM
- 256GB SSD
- GTX 1650 4GB VRAM

I plan to upgrade the RAM and storage myself, since I’d need more than 256GB and prefer at least 16GB. I’m not ready to commit until I’m sure there’s no better choice than what I’ve outlined so far. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

For that price, those specifications are similar to what you'd expect from any brand and model. Acer Nitro offers another more affordable option that still performs well. However, the system you currently own compared to what you're aiming for isn't really worth investing in a new one. Upgrading the graphics card at least is necessary before spending on a replacement. The difference between 1650 and 1050Ti could be around 10-20% depending on the game, and the CPU remains comparable. I wouldn’t spend $700 just for a barely noticeable improvement. Of course, if you sell your laptop, you might find a new system for $3 to $400, but even then, that small upgrade isn’t worth it for me. Consider getting a 500gb SSD for your existing setup.

I considered it at first, but now I discovered an EVOO laptop featuring an i7-9750h, 16GB RAM, a GTX 1660 Ti, 512GB SSD, and a 144Hz display for $699. The GPU and display improvements seem to justify the cost? Should I go ahead with this upgrade or stick with my current device?

1660Ti offers a significantly better upgrade compared to the 1050Ti, yet the price seems quite low for such specifications. I'm unfamiliar with this brand, so it's hard to judge its value. If it's beneficial, it depends on you. You could replace your current laptop for a reasonable amount if you're willing to spend around $300 for a new system with a warranty. I'm uncertain whether choosing an unknown brand is the right decision.

I was searching for a comparable thread. Could you recommend any budget-friendly laptop equipped with GTX 10 series or GTX 16 series graphics cards? An 8th generation processor would suffice, and an SSD is preferred. Any ideas would be helpful. No particular brand in mind.

I believe your current budget allows you to get a laptop with superior features than what you're using now.
