Hey everyone, I'm trying to decide which board fits my needs best. With a budget around 250 Euros, I've considered these options: ASRock B650E Phantom Gaming Riptide Wifi – decent PCIe 5.0 and USB-C, but the sound quality isn’t great and I’m worried about the power supply. Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX – also lacks good sound, has coil whining and needs a solid power supply. MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WiFi – might take a long time to boot, but it seems the power supply could be better. Which one should I pick and why?

The Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX is commonly considered the top mid-range board, yet the Riptide performs well as well. Check out the full comparison for more details.

You're weighing your options carefully. The video you watched yesterday is still unclear to you, and you're considering choosing the board you prefer or using a random method like flipping a coin. There are concerns about the MSI Tomahawk as well.

Also check the board specifications: VRM, PCIe slots (count and model), USB ports, Wi-Fi, etc. For instance, if you don’t need Wi-Fi and prefer a mid-range chip, the Asus Creator is a solid choice; if you want PCIe 5.0 only, Steel Legend and ASUS ROG are options; however, there’s no audio chip available, which is a bit disappointing.

Also important to mention is that none of the boards in that test, except the initial Asus Prime models, ran into any problems when using a 7950x, so worries about the VRM (power supply) shouldn't arise.

The MSI Tomahawk offers the lowest price at €208, making it the most affordable option. The Gigabyte follows at €232, creating a slight price gap. In terms of appearance, the ASRock stands out the least, giving it that typical budget gaming aesthetic. Personally, I don’t expect much from these models, just hoping they function smoothly.

Coil whine on the Gigabyte? Interesting. They're all fine, the Gigabyte is my pick. Pro AX rather than the Elite, but similar. No coil whine here tho.
