Searching for a new headset.
Searching for a new headset.
I'm searching for a new PC headset. Since I mainly play Call of Duty, I prioritize good microphone and audio quality. They should be closed-back to handle noise from my environment. I’m unsure whether wireless or wired is better. My gaming sessions often last over 8 hours, so if it's wireless I need strong battery life. I don’t have a DAC and wouldn’t want to buy one unless it’s included. I’m not interested in USB or XLR mics. My budget is about $200 but it can vary. I also live in the US.
Because you spend most of your time gaming, wireless headsets work well enough. For top-notch sound quality, a wired connection offers better performance than Bluetooth, though you’d be better off investing in a dedicated gaming headset. If you’re looking for something around 200 dollars, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Wireless is a solid option. It delivers strong bass, decent mic quality, and good noise isolation. The battery lasts about 30 hours, which is sufficient for extended sessions. It’s a reliable choice for 180 dollars.
If you have a bit more budget, the Logitech G PRO X 2 Wireless stands out as a higher-end alternative. Priced at 250 dollars, it includes a detachable microphone and offers improved treble and midrange with nearly 100 hours of battery life. It supports switching between two devices and excels at blocking external noise. The SteelSeries is great for switching between devices and better at noise cancellation, but the G PRO provides superior audio and longer battery life if those are priorities.
Thank you for the reply!
These models stand out compared to the razer blackshark v2 2023.
I also inquire about any available wired options.
Customer support is something I value highly in case of any issues.
The Razor headset isn't as effective as the other two choices. It has a good microphone, but the sound quality is not great. I believe once you switch to wireless headphones, it will be hard to understand how you managed without them. For instance, taking a short break to use the restroom or grab something, you could simply leave your headset on without worrying about being connected and still get audio.
The Maxwell Wireless tends to outperform the earlier models, though they come at a higher price. If you can afford to increase your spending by about 300 dollars, it offers a strong improvement. The decision depends on whether you're prepared to add roughly 50 dollars over your planned budget for the Logitech or 100 for the Maxwells.
I've noticed positive feedback for both options. It seems the Logitech is more durable compared to the Maxwells. If I'm investing that much, I hope it lasts longer. I understand Logitech offers solid customer support, but I'm not familiar with Audeze. Some reviews about the Maxwells mention their durability isn't very strong even after a few months. As for the Logitech, the microphone seems to be questionable according to some hardware users.
Three hundred dollars is quite a sum to spend on a gaming headset, but I think the Logitech headphones offer a good balance between price and features. They’re a decent choice compared to the Maxwells and SteelSeries, especially since you already own some Logitech gear. The G PRO Wireless should also meet your needs well.
I own both Corsair Virtuoso and Audeze Maxwell. The Corsair have nice build quality, excellent sound and a great mic. The Maxwells are heavier headsets with amazing audio quality, solid build and decent mic. The battery on the Corsair is good, but the Maxwells are outstanding. I've used my unit since before Christmas and charged it twice—once when I first got it and then about three weeks ago. The 80-hour battery life seems very close to what it promises.
