It's time to upgrade. My previous setup was an I7-8700K with a Gigabyte Aorus Master Z390, which had excellent PCB and component quality according to Gamer Nexus. However, for the I5-13600K there are many reviews from unknown YouTube creators, which I'm not interested in sharing. Who can suggest a high-quality motherboard? From my long search, the top options seem to be Gigabyte Aorus Z790 Elite versus Asus Z790 Maximus Hero.

The ASUS board is significantly overpriced for your CPU choice. If your processor were a 13900K with ample funds, it would make sense. Instead of investing in that board, consider the GIGABYTE Z790 AORUS Elite or the MSI PRO Z790-A WiFi, which are nearly half the cost and offer better value. Overall, I wouldn't recommend the ASUS board given your CPU budget constraints.

I shared the same thought about Gigabyte, but I’m curious about their overall quality in the Z790 and VRM aspects.

They perform well, matching the quality of other boards in their price category. I’d consider the Z690 Carbon/Force if you’re open to updating the BIOS; otherwise, they’re solid options and have stayed competitively priced alongside the Elite AX for a while.

They fit perfectly with any CPU you choose. I believe you're focusing too much on the motherboard. You likely don’t need a costly one, and there’s probably no real need for it. If your concern is just fear of failure, relax. The current generation boards are top quality, and the AORUS Elite is excellent.

asus has been slipping on quality lately, so it wouldn't be wise to pick an asus board, especially given their tendency to charge high prices. This is just too much and unnecessary unless you really need all the connections they provide. By the way, this isn't an oc board either—it's a 4dimmer unit. For an oc option, a z6/790 dark would be better. As for a motherboard, just go with whatever has the I/O and features you require; power delivery isn't a big deal since most budget boards like the pro z690 still offer solid voltages.

My 690 performs quite well for this CPU. The Z690 Aorus Elite DDR4 ran smoothly without any problems.
