Hey everyone, my parents have an old two-in-one laptop that’s having trouble running Windows smoothly. I’m looking for a lighter operating system to give it a fresh start. I know there are some Mint versions that are lightweight, but I’m not sure how user-friendly they are. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

I've tried using Gnome 3 on a tablet—it functions quite well on a touchscreen, though it can feel a bit sluggish. Instead of sticking to one setup, why not test it on several desktop environments to find the best fit?

I appreciate Sparky for being compact, though I'm unsure about its touch responsiveness. It seems Raspbian/Pi OS should work with it, but I haven't tested it yet.

My main aim was to combine the two devices into one, but the laptop only had a USB port available. That means I’d likely need to set it up manually.

Refers to the laptop's internal settings or configuration. The device appears to be a specific model. Trying a live disk might help resolve issues.

It's an early version of the Asus Transformer book series. It only has a USB port on the keyboard, which is a drawback. Detaching the keyboard restores the live disk connection. I've encountered several problems with different distributions, and some like Raspberry Pi OS don't support Wi-Fi, making it unsuitable. It looks like the lightweight Windows version is the safer choice right now. Thanks for all the advice and support. I'll continue testing other environments and will create a thread if I find one that works well so others can benefit from it.
