We’re excited about the new laptop and its GPU for light gaming. We enjoy co-op story games, RPGs, platformers, and fighting titles, and we’re interested in controller support. Your laptop’s specs are: CPU i5-10210U (1.6GHz x 4, up to 4.2GHz turbo) and an 8GB RAM setup. The GeForce MX250 is a solid choice compared to a GTX 650, as shown in the benchmark link. Let’s see what games we can try together!

Borderlands offers multiplayer and horde modes, though they're not exceptional. Gears of War could work too, but Borderlands seems like the stronger choice.

Mythic games, I struggle to play any FPS smoothly with a controller, but had a good time with those using kbm Smile

I don’t see any top-down shooters, though that could be the angle you’re after.

Left 4 Dead 2 offers good controller compatibility based on my recollection, and Portal 2 is also worth mentioning.

Not always about a shooter, what I really need is a cooperative game with controller support. FPS games are too tough for me to enjoy on a controller—the dual joysticks just don’t feel right. Portal 2 works better at a slower pace, which is a good approach. It’s also a fantasy title (it’s been waiting in my library since I last played it). Great suggestion! I’ve also looked into it, and Divinity: Original Sin II seems like a solid option, can run smoothly even on weaker hardware.

It’s tough but there’s nothing wrong with it. I used to find it challenging, yet just keep playing. When it’s with someone you care about, it’ll still be enjoyable.

I understand your perspective, though she doesn't enjoy the fast-paced FPS style and is excited about RPGs overall. I shared all the choices in the answers here, and the final decision was ours both together. Since we're connected on most social platforms, I've chosen not to speak about her publicly in this thread, even though she isn't part of the forum.

Nine Parchments stands out as a refined piece, blending creative concepts with elegant touches. I’m already familiar with Trine, and Frozenbyte consistently meets expectations. I didn’t realize Nine Parchments existed until recently—great find! Edited March 31, 2025 by SaintJesus3000 (typo noted)
