I usually handle this using an RX460 now. It performs well on this large workstation (Asus P9X79-WS), though I'm a bit concerned about the PCIe spacing affecting modern consumer boards. In reality, upgrading the monitor might be the best option. Although it's old, it functions nicely and offers a great display. Also, the abundance of PCIe expansion options makes this setup very flexible. However, its single-core speed is quite poor right now xD
You might try a single-link connection by lowering the refresh rate. It seems like you're unsure about your monitor's specifications yet.
Model number? You can easily check its image quality at a reasonable cost. That seems like a more affordable choice than trying to fix it later.
I never imagined experiencing such powerful displays again. By then, getting a GPU with DVI or an active adapter would seem like the next logical step since the current screen remains quite impressive.
You're unsure about the compatibility details here. If it supports HDMI, it should also have DVI-D. It's a one-to-one passive adapter—no active boards needed unless you require DVI-D separately. For an older monitor with 1200p/1080p at 60Hz, you don't need a dual-link adapter.
Checked the Asus Pro A620M-C-CSM listing, but it doesn’t match your needs.
