I’m dealing with a slow, overheating laptop and my parents are stuck deciding whether to repair it or replace it. I’m considering switching to a lighter Linux system to make better use of my device while they think about the solution.

When overheating occurs, search YouTube for disassembly guides on similar models. Most issues stem from dust and hair blocking the cooling fins. Cleaning them out should restore normal temperature.

Switching the operating system won't resolve the issue. Core functions run quicker initially, but constraints persist. Performance will keep declining under CPU-intensive tasks, such as streaming videos. From personal experience with my old laptop, it did last a couple more years, though issues still arose.

The operating system doesn’t solve the overheating problem. For my Raspberry Pi, I use a fan to keep it cool—totally serious, no jokes.
