When attempting to start, I encounter an I/O device issue. During diskpart initialization, a similar problem arises: VDS fails to write boot code on the disk during a clean operation. The error code is 8007045D@02070008. I've tested both Intel and standard AHCI drivers. With Intel, the Exos isn't recognized at all. For the standard version, I receive an I/O device error. The drive isn't detected on a PCIe SATA card either. Plugging it into any SATA port causes extremely slow booting. PCPartPicker has listed relevant parts.

It seems like the connection is failing or not working properly. As a quick test, remove the drive from the SATA ports, reset the CMOS, and attempt to boot from a reliable SATA device. If performance drops, it may indicate an issue with that specific drive. The wiring and data transfer rates could also affect behavior.

It's strange I got this brand-new drive today, and my IronWolf is working just fine.

Hello, Ethan. Did you resolve the issue you're facing? I'm experiencing the same problem you mentioned—system clicks during startup and a slow boot, plus an I/O error when trying to initialize the drive.

Hey everyone, I'm facing the identical issue as @Ethan_Li and @SunTzuIsDeadlyLaser using an EXOS X16 16TB drive on both Windows 11 and Windows 10. The drive clicks frequently during startup and slows down booting, plus it fails to initialize with the same I/O error. I've heard about the Power Disable Feature for SATA 3.2+/3.3 from Tom's forum, but I'm not sure if that's the root cause. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
