I recently chose to enhance my PC's RAM by installing two 8GB modules alongside the existing two. I've handled this before on other systems without major complications. This time, however, things became more complicated—the new sticks weren't being detected at all, regardless of the adjustments I made. The only BIOS changes I've ever made were adjusting the RAM configuration, specifically enabling DOCP to match its advertised rate. I assumed resetting it to defaults would resolve the issue, as aligning all modules at the same settings seemed logical. Since the motherboard performed well with default settings earlier, I thought it was safe.
After restarting with default BIOS settings, both my boot priority menu and the boot menu displayed blank. The BIOS identified both my SSD and CD-ROM drives but didn't recognize them as bootable options. Through some self-diagnosis, I activated the Launch CSM feature, which resolved the problem. Everything functioned normally except for the newly added RAM.
Further investigation revealed that my SDD and CD-ROM were now classified under MBR format instead of GPT. From what I understand, MBR is an older partitioning method, while GPT is now standard, offering better support for multiple drives and improved stability. I hadn't considered this before.
My motherboard is an Asus TUF Gaming X570-Plus. Any advice would be appreciated.

I found those articles during my research. Both mention removing the partition and suggest losing data if you do. I’m not an expert on partitions. The third-party comment discussed converting the drive while preserving partitions and data. Windows methods usually require wiping the drive. Let’s focus on the situation. If my drives were always MBR and my BIOS switched to CSM at startup, there’s no clear need for conversion. Everything worked before I accidentally changed it to UEFI. That makes sense unless I really needed a GPT setup.
Ensuring your data remains safe requires regular backups, regardless of using third-party tools for in-place conversions. Each conversion can pose a risk of losing information due to errors or bugs. When systems function properly, the need for conversion disappears, correct.
