Scythe Fuma vs Noctua NH-D14
Scythe Fuma vs Noctua NH-D14
I'm considering purchasing a new cooler and am struggling to choose between the Noctua NH-D14 and Scythe Fuma. I've found benchmarks mostly for the Scythe Fuma and Noctua NH-D15, but the Noctua NH-D15 seems to be the better option overall. The airflow numbers look promising (Fuma: 5.6 - 79 CFM vs Noctua: 64.92 CFM), though the Noctua D15 is significantly more expensive. The specs suggest the Scythe Fuma could be a better fit, especially for your i5 7600k (4.5-5.0 GHz). What are your thoughts?
When the first Scythe Mugen came out, it was the top choice for heatsinks. I’m currently using a second cooler with a Mugen 4, and I had a Katana 2 (or maybe 3—was that the one with the unusual 130° angle). I convinced a friend to try the Scythe Mugen Max. These coolers are really solid, especially for half the price of similar products from Noctua or Cryorig.
For your CPU choose the Scythe Fuma if you can get it. The issue with Scythe Fuma is its limited availability compared to Noctua, and the poor fan support, though the Fuma Heatsink remains decent. In Australia there are no stores carrying Scythe Fuma. Importing from Japan made it nearly as cheap as NH-D15S ($99 vs $104), so picking the Fuma isn't worthwhile for Australians at least.

These coolers are really solid, offering great performance at a fraction of the price compared to brands like Noctua or Cryorig. It’s hard to go wrong with one.

Choose the Scythe Fuma if you can get it, though availability is limited compared to Noctua. Many fans dislike it, but the Fuma Heatsink remains a decent option. Actually, in Central Europe the Fuma costs around 50$ while the Noctua D15S is 100$.
