I began questioning whether Microsoft provides extra screensavers for their operating systems today. I haven’t located any official, supplementary screensavers from them, and the few built-in on Windows 8.1 are quite poor quality. Could anyone point me to a reliable, clean source offering a good selection of screensavers for Windows 8.1? I didn’t bother searching before, and most search results lead to ad-heavy or intrusive sites.

Screensavers originated due to CRT displays that were prone to burn-in issues. Looking for them now often leads to outdated or low-quality options. It seems they’re no longer a priority, and their presence in modern systems like Windows is unexpected.

Exactly why I've never asked myself this question before. Have been on a flat LCD panel for so many years now. Still, something makes me want to look at a cool animation for 10 minutes before the screen just turns off. Adds ambience, if that makes sense.

Nvidia released a few models in the 200 series, and apparently there was one featuring a train.
