I recently assembled a new computer and have faced unexpected crashes and black screens. The machine freezes completely, especially when using Blender, where it raises the core and memory clocks to their maximum and causes Blender to crash. I’ve reinstalled drivers, updated the motherboard BIOS, and even restored Windows, but I’m unsure what to do next. I’ve noticed that lowering the core clock improves stability somewhat, though it hasn’t fully resolved the issues. My CPU is an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D on a MSI MAG X670E ATX motherboard with AM5 RAM, Corsair Vengeance DDR5 RAM (64GB, 5200MHz), and an Asus ROG STRIX RTX 4090 GPU.

Looking great in the discussions! Have you performed a memory test? Did you increase the clock speed? How are your system temperatures during these tests?

Have you explored alternative diagnostic steps? Make sure parts are firmly connected, especially PSU cables, because you have a 4090.

I just ran a MemTest86 using MemTest86 and it completed successfully. I haven’t done any overclocking, and the temperatures fluctuate during the test—sometimes while playing games and other times when idle.

I’m not certain about additional steps beyond what you’ve already tried—like updating drivers, adjusting BIOS settings, reinstalling Windows, and repositioning components. I’m also willing to consider other ideas if you have any.

The incidents appear to be fewer or absent since you reorganized everything, suggesting a poor connection might have been the cause.
