I'm dealing with a persistent problem that's been affecting me for years. While streaming on various platforms like Netflix, HBO, or Amazon, my screen would briefly freeze before returning to normal. Initially, this began when I was using Windows 10 with an Nvidia 980TI and mainly browsing Chrome. The issue persists across every browser I've tested—Edge, Vivaldi, Brave, Opera GX. After upgrading to a Nvidia 3090, I performed a complete reinstall from scratch on Windows 11 with the latest drivers, but it still occurs. I've tried numerous solutions without success and haven't found any reliable advice. Earlier, when using the 980, I had one HDMI port and another DVI, and only the HDMI would switch off and back on. Now, both ports use DisplayPort adapters. My system details are: Windows 11 Pro, version 10.0.22621, BIOS from American Megatrends, ROG MAXIMUS XI HERO motherboard, 32GB RAM, EVGA 3090TI graphics card, and an Asus VS248 monitor—both HDMI cables are present but the behavior remains inconsistent.

It depends on what you mean by "going black." If you're talking about the screen fading in, it usually happens at the end or during a scene. If you're referring to darkness in the story, it might start at the beginning and build up. Let me know for more clarity!

some platforms behave differently depending on the service. Amazon tends to clear the page before and after a video, whereas HBO and Netflix only clear it when you finish watching and close the browser. I also notice it can happen slightly later if you skip to another video after a movie, but not between shows. Watching multiple videos without starting new ones keeps it off longer.

I received a fresh monitor today that connects directly to my graphics card through DisplayPort. It doesn’t turn off when the other two still do, so I think the problem lies specifically with the two Asus VS248 units. I’ve adjusted settings in the display options without success, but at least this is helping resolve the issue.

Could the HDCP feature be taking effect? Connect the working monitor to the faulty one and verify that HDCP 2.0 is enabled in your driver.
