I have an old laptop with 0.99 GB RAM and a 2.00 GHz CPU running Windows Vista. I thought I could run Team Fortress 2, but the game didn’t perform well. After launching it, audio started looping, which seemed odd. I restarted the computer, and it looked like my screen was wiped out—black and white images appeared. I felt nervous then, but after fixing it, everything worked fine. Now I’m using it to browse the internet for a while.

Welcome to the forums. It's because there was a lot of stress on the GPU in that machine. If it can't run TF2, I don't know how you're ever going to game on it. It's not really a problem, just more of a "this laptop can't run an undemanding game" kind of thing. BTW mentioning how many Ghz your CPU has does nothing. There are 4.5Ghz CPUs that suck, but there are 2.0Ghz Xeons that are extremely powerful. Mentioning the actual model might help, but other than that not really. And 1GB RAM? Dude, how do you even run Windows on that smoothly? Not trying to hate. I really hope you have another machine for gaming man

I started as a console player using a cheap laptop to join the PC Master Race, but soon noticed many programs didn’t work well on it. Now I’m thinking about building my own computer and just need to save up. UPDATE: My laptop is a Dell Latitude D520; I might have miscalculated the specs.

Your budget ranges from $400 to $500. You're interested in playing games such as Garry's Mod, Five Nights at Freddy's, and Call of Duty World: At War.

Old and simple games tend to perform well at 100+ most likely within that budget, right?
