Screen becomes black following GPU upgrade.
Hey everyone, I recently acquired a used MSI RTX3070 Supreme X and was able to play games on my PC during the purchase—what a great time! Now that I connected it to my system, everything looks normal: the monitor displays correctly, the GPU lights up, etc., but the screen stays black. I've already tried several solutions: changing the monitor, switching the port (HDMI vs DisplayPort), using a different PCI slot, and updating the BIOS. The current specs are: Gigabyte Sniper M3 CPU, 3570K RAM, GSKill 16GB DDR3, and Corsair RM850i GPU on an ASUS 970 Strix motherboard. Any tips would be really helpful.
Hi! I still have the Asus 970 Strix, and it’s working fine now after I replaced the GPU and updated the header. I managed to push it to about 4.4GHz, which was unexpected given how hot that Intel generation got. Just hoping to settle some financial obligations before starting a new build, maybe by year-end.
It seems improbable you'll require a DDU, though it wouldn't be harmful. I think the 970 version functions adequately. Also, make sure there are no other PCIe slots free and confirm you switched from the 2x6pin to the 2x8pin power connectors. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the power cables (both ends if your PSU is fully modular).
I'll try DDU first, but it works fine when I reinstate the 970.
