Absolutely, you're on the right track. It seems I was mistaken about the power rating. I thought it matched a 3700X, but it's actually better than that. The main issue appears to be with the setup or the unit itself.

Maybe consider trying the Kryonaut paste to check if it helps reduce the heat.

The PC's appearance is clear; all fans are connected and operational. The pump appears functional.

I connected every fan to the Commander Core, and they appeared in iCUE. The pump was powered through the Pump_header on the motherboard.

That’s typical behavior. My 5900X usually runs fine with just one tower air cooler. Performance drops noticeably under load, so I’d consider a paste job first. It’s a fast, inexpensive option before moving to more complex fixes like swapping coolers or opening an RMA.

Standard fan arrangements on AIOs can sometimes hold air during bench work. This isn’t a problem on short benches such as R20, but it becomes noticeable with larger models like R23. It’s simple to spot because the glass on the side of the case warms up. My Cooler Master H500p Mesh handles this well, whereas my H500m doesn’t. Both designs look quite alike. The model I’m testing right now is a Corsair 5000D, and I might need extra fans on the sides for longer setups like R23. That flexibility is why I chose it.
