Hello! I've been testing and pushing my 3700X all day just for fun. I'm new to overclocking but have been building for about five years now. I managed to get the CPU stable at 4.350GHZ with a voltage of 1.40625. I'm not sure if this is the highest possible setting. I'm using an NZXT Kraken M22 120MM AIO, which handles temperatures well during overclocking. It's also paired with an NVIDIA RTX 3070 FE in my system. I was wondering if there are any even stronger overclocks that my CPU might be able to handle. Feel free to share any suggestions. P.S. Cinebench shows 3.6ghz, but I confirmed it's actually running at 4.350GHZ.
Stock scores with PBO on a 3700x platform typically range from 12k to 13k points in Cinebench R23. I’d really think about lowering the voltage significantly—1.4v is quite high. Aiming for 1.25 to 1.30v would be ideal, letting PBO handle its own performance.
I had a 9700K and it performed really well. I managed to boost it to 5.0 GHz using an air cooler, and it kept running smoothly at around 35°C. The 3000 series is actually pretty slow in terms of GHz.
Yep, just turn on PBO. I used a 3700x for a while, then switched to a 5900X with PBO plus a stable voltage between 1.28 and 1.3—same results or better than manual overclocks. My single-threaded score also improved thanks to the faster boost clocks.
