I own a 4k gaming rig that previously achieved 97% better scores than all others around 18,000+ points. The setup includes an i7 6700k with 4.5Ghz max turbo, gtx 1080, 32g ram at 3000hz, asus maximus gene 8 Mobo, and samsung 950 pro m.2 ssd. At that time, my monitor was an Asus ROG swift PG278Q (1440p IPS with G-sync at 144hz), but I upgraded to an Acer predator x34 (4k ultrawide with G-sync and overclocked to 100hz) without changing anything else. My current score is 12,700, which is 85% better than all results. Is this improvement typical after switching the monitor? Also, my CPU only reaches a turbo clock of up to 4.2Ghz. Could it be the monitor issue or something else?

You moved from 1440p to 4k, but the extra detail reduces the fire strike rating. This is expected and the measurements can't be directly compared since they depend on resolution.

They believed firestrike scores depended on machine strength rather than image quality.
