I use a dvd player that sends video via scart to my TV and connects to the surround system, but I’m unsure what that connector is. The new smart TV doesn’t support scart, so should I buy a scart-to-HDMI adapter online? Gemini suggested a converter box, which left me confused about the best option. Some recommend upgrading to a modern dvd player, but the surround system only uses that specific connector.

There are converters available, but for anything truly good it might cost as much as swapping your entire surround setup for a Blu-ray player. It does include an optical digital option, so you’d likely be better off with a solid Blu-ray player that outputs directly to your DVD system for sound. If your TV has optical input, you should be able to connect it to your existing setup for audio.
