I'm curious about the reasons behind MS's actions and whether they completely lost connection to reality. What are your thoughts on this? The article you shared discusses this topic.

Due to significant problems with both consoles, many titles had to be reduced in scope shortly after release to ensure proper performance. For a large-scale open-world experience with four-player co-op and extensive in-game events, achieving smooth operation on the Xbox One would have been extremely challenging without major compromises. Both platforms are facing difficulties with certain games; the PS4 shares identical hardware specs, though its GPU is slightly more powerful. It’s likely Microsoft could have optimized it for the Switch, but doing so would have required a platform split if base systems couldn’t support it. This explains why MS insists on cross-platform compatibility. Overall, it appears the project was nearly finished, resulting in substantial financial loss. The most likely outcome is that Microsoft attempts to fix the issue and release the game for PC, which would handle it more effectively.

that sucks. the gameplay trailers i saw for the game were pretty cool, and it's made by Platinum too. guess the game got too big for MS to manage. at least we got Nier: Automata.. i believe there is a PC release for it

It would have been great if Scalebound had been released as a Xbox game, allowing players to enjoy it on either Xbox or PC... or through Project Scorpio, as you suggested. Also, where exactly is Project Scorpio?

In that scenario, MS likely dropped it because the Xbox edition would lose significant value compared to the PC version if Platinum kept the large-scale gameplay they intended. In reality, quantum break faced a comparable setback during its development phase. Around the midpoint, MS was on the verge of canceling the IP, but Remedy agreed and made major changes after the initial trailers were released.

You're questioning if a console limits game development progress? That's an interesting take!

It seems Microsoft is removing YouTube recordings of the game from its platform, though the article notes it's still referenced in E3 trailers.
