Searched on Google for a quick way to move files from my Android box onto an SD card without losing everything. I found lots of old tricks like copying images or backing up data, but nothing good specifically about backing up the whole system. My box is CoreElec and Kodi running right now, so I just reset it yesterday and it feels brand new again. Sadly, my device isn't getting updates anymore, so backing up is more important than ever. I want to save an IMG file of everything in case I have to wipe it all over again and start from scratch later. Do you know a simple free app that can do this?

The .bin (binary) file from ImageUSB is like a copy that has a safety check on it. Its main job is to make lots of copies for your USB drives, but you can also use it with only one drive at a time.

You can use Win32 Disk Imager for two things: moving images from cards to memory sticks or taking memories out of cards. I would like Etcher to handle the same thing too, though their main goals might be different.

Hey PassMark, is this the same company that makes my app? I'm trying it out right now. When I try to save it, they show an option for *.bin but no other stuff like *.img. @Alabalcho used to use that app before and didn't remember having that choice. Maybe older versions didn't have it. I'll give it a try next time. EDIT... Win32 Disk Imager is kind of tricky. Instead of clicking CREATE, you click READ and the software does the work for you. It's not totally clear at first but good to know this info.

The .bin file from ImageUSB is like a copy of your USB drive that has a safety check added to make sure it's not fake. Most people use this to copy many USB drives at once, but you can also just use it for one specific drive if you want.
