The save system in RDR2 feels really basic—no saves during missions and losing progress between them is frustrating. Most players find it hard to figure out where the auto-save works and try to keep one going. It’s surprising how a game from 1985 could still be so cumbersome, especially with missions that last a long time. I wonder if there’s a mod that fixes this or at least helps preserve actions better. Since I haven’t seen anything worse since Zork 2, it seems like something important might be missing.

It seems users often attempt to trigger autosaves by performing specific actions, such as reviewing documents like horse deeds or mounting a horse. However, this method is inconsistent and there’s no certainty it actually works. Similar problems have been reported in games like No Man’s Sky, which behaved differently, while Red Dead Redemption 2 avoided such criticism.
