My father's 850 Pro vanished from the system. It wasn't listed in BIOS or Windows settings. I attempted a firmware update using Samsung's Linux boot tool, but the drive wasn't detected. After disassembling it, I couldn't spot any obvious damage and couldn't locate any faulty components with my multimeter. When connected, the SSD chip warmed slightly but didn't feel excessively hot, and no visible issues were present. I applied some heat from a reflow station to the chip, but it didn't cause movement. For further troubleshooting, consider checking internal connections, testing with another storage device, or consulting a professional repair service.

Check other available slots on the motherboard. The issue might be a faulty slot rather than the drive itself.

If it hadn't been dead before, it's now.

It’s not an M.2, just a regular SATA SSD. I’ve used the usual cables and tried everything. Plugging it into my PC still causes the BIOS to flash, but it doesn’t start properly.
