Hey there, I'm really struggling with something and was hoping someone could offer some insight. I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. I have an ASUS TUF FX505DU gaming laptop connected to a Samsung 144Hz LC24RG50 monitor, and I’m experiencing a strange problem. Games running through the monitor are consistently choppy at over 100 frames per second, but when I play them directly on the laptop's screen – which is 120Hz – they run incredibly smoothly. It seems like it has to do with the monitor itself. Specifically, when I move my camera horizontally in games, there’s this noticeable stuttering effect and everything just feels jerky, like the frames are falling behind. Turning on VSync sometimes limits the FPS to 72, which is the only time the game runs smoothly; anything above that and it's completely unplayable.

Here’s a rundown of my system: I have an NVIDIA GTX 1660Ti with a Ryzen 7 3750H processor, 32GB of RAM running in dual channel, and Windows 10 Home.

When playing games via the samsung monitor is the laptop screen off or on ? If it's on maybe try just setting the monitor as a primary display. Also in the nvidia control panel under Configure surround,Physx - Make sure your GPU is selected and it's not on autoselect ...

Hey, how’s it going? Just wondering – is there a DisplayPort connection on your laptop? If so, I'd recommend trying that.

I'm not getting a display port on this laptop – I’m plugging in with the HDMI cable that originally came with my 144Hz monitor.

Your monitor might not handle 1080p at 144 frames per second over HDMI. It’s generally better to try 1080p at 120 frames per second using an HDMI cable instead.

The monitor is currently displaying at 144Hz, both in the display settings and within the NVCP. I also looked on the UFO website, which confirms it's running at 144Hz – so I don’t believe that’s the issue.

Just so you know, my laptop's mirroring on the second screen – it’s working fine. The physics settings are automatically selecting, but I’m going to switch them to manual and let you know as soon as it’s done, thanks!
