I cooked my GA503QS motherboard, unsure if the vbios tweaks or some weird liquid metal caused the failure, but it was gone. I found a replacement on eBay from a factory that likely had old stock, which saved me money compared to ASUS's price. The board now shows up with an AMD Eng Sample (16) @ 3.100GHz instead of a R9 5900HS, but it seems to run fine, so I’m not overly upset. Before deciding whether to send it back, here are my questions: - What checks can I perform to ensure stability and normal performance? - What dangers come with using an Eng sample? - Is there a way to alter the CPU ID so it isn’t flagged as an engineering sample? - Can I update the BIOS safely or are there other factors to consider?

3dmark, cinebench, cpuz are used for performance checks and stability testing. A few components could be removed or combined, depending on the specific chip. It's unlikely to change the design unless you lack recovery tools like an eeprom programmer.

Looking into additional details beyond the usual stability checks for this OC. You might explore the full designator information to see what features are active or disabled. The identifier `AMD Eng Sample: HS00-000000300-40_Y` could provide more insight if you need it.

Scores are measured with some variation from others due to margin of error. That’s the thing. I’m starting a stress test now to ensure stability, and then I’ll run Unigene to verify the GPU performance.
