Hey there, I've been checking out the latest CPUs for a while now. It turns out the price gap between the B550M and B660M boards is narrowing when you compare similar models—especially when looking at the 5800X and 12600K. Performance-wise it seems pretty close, so what should you choose? You're mainly gaming on your PC and currently have an i5 4690K with a 3060, right? Also, is it really worth going overkill for 1080p compared to the 12400F, which is about 65% of the 12600K price in your country? I'm still unsure, but since my old CPU has lasted me seven years, I’m okay with spending a bit more for something that lasts longer. Thanks ahead! For context, the 12400F is around 1500 DKK, the 12600K about 2400 DKK, and the 5800X is on sale for 2700 kr.

The 12600K offers great performance, but you're unlikely to feel the difference since your GPU might be the limiting factor.

It's really not a bad choice either, but a 12400 would be more than sufficient for you.

Because of the GPU limitation, performance won’t improve much in games. I’d strongly suggest the 12400f—it’s sufficient and offers solid future upgrades.

Twelve-six units. The 5600X performs well, though the Intel IPC remains a concern.

I felt a strong interest in the 5600x, though it was quite expensive compared to the 12600k. The 12400 performs very similarly in most tests.

I've considered the same. The problem is that upgrading to an i7 would be costly and limited, so I think it's better to invest in a more expensive option now that can support two GPUs, just like my previous setup.

Sure, perhaps aim for a 12,600k or 12,700k then.

I could too or I might just choose the 12400. It looks like a solid price, but I tend to be very careful with spending, so making the decision and actually paying is always difficult. Thanks for the advice, everyone was really consistent in sticking with Alder Lake rather than an older Ryzen.
