Safe to overclock rx 460 ?

Recently I received my RX 460 with a Corsair CXM 850 80plus bronze and I'm wondering if it's safe to overclock it using the PowerColor version without a 6-pin power connector.

It's possible to overclock since the low-power card and PCI-E port can provide ample power. However, it suggests avoiding this approach if you aim for a long lifespan for your GPU until you install a suitable cooling solution.

I attempted to increase the clock speed from MSI Afterburner, but the display freezes upon applying, recovers briefly, and then the Radeon software stops working.

Michael tried to overclock from MSI afterburner, but the screen froze after applying, recovered, and then the Radeon software crashed. He advises closing the software before using afterburner. His experience matches yours.
