Can I increase my PC's clock speed to 4.2 GHz from a factory-set 3.6 GHz? Thanks.

Hi mikisuckswithcomputers,
I heard you struggle with computers so I thought I could lend a hand!
The i7 7700 you bought doesn’t support CPU overclocking (though I think most CPUs technically do, but I haven’t even tried it on locked chips).
You’ll need an Intel processor with a 'K' at the end, which has an unlocked multiplier and lets you tweak settings in the BIOS.
It’s nice you kept your name consistent here, but sadly there’s no straightforward way to achieve what you’re after.

No, because the 7700 isn't a "K" series CPU, it cannot be overclocked in any way. The only possible overclocking is from the built-in Turbo Boost, which adjusts frequency based on load while considering cooling and power usage. If this feature isn't turned on, you can enable it through your BIOS settings.
