Hello everyone, I have a query regarding my overclock setup for my 6600k. I'm using a Corsair H50 cooler and an ASUS Z170 motherboard. My CPU is already overclocked to 4.5Ghz at 1.35V, and the stress test results so far show an average temperature of 83°C in Test 3. After that, it dropped to 60 and then 55 for the remaining tests. Should I be concerned?

How are the idle temperatures? Under load they remain stable. Monitor them closely, the H50 isn't particularly effective at cooling under stress.

What's the current temperature? Under load the readings stay stable. The H50 isn't very efficient, so keep an eye on your temps—it's not cooling well. When the computer is idle it drops to 800Mghz but maintains the same voltage, so I can't report an exact number with 4.5ghz, though it's around 30°C.

BrandonTheGPU :
Hello all, I have a query regarding my overclock for the 6600k. I'm using a Corsair H50 cooler and an ASUS Z170 motherboard. My CPU is set to 4.5Ghz at 1.35V, and the stress test shows some results so far. I'm running Prime95 version 95 and in test 3, the temperature peaked at an average of 83°C before dropping to 60 and then 55. Should I be concerned?

Your overclock isn't extremely aggressive, so you should maintain temperatures well under 70°C at peak loads with Prime95, even with a basic single fan CPU cooler. This might be related to the overclocking parameters you chose. My i5 6600K typically stays under 4.6 GHz after manually adjusting the VCore to 1.355V in the BIOS, with a maximum temperature around 30°C for regular tasks. However, before making further BIOS adjustments, I experimented with similar temperatures. Using software overclocking seems to be a better approach since it tends to raise voltages too much. I think an 83°C reading isn't safe long-term. I'm happy to share my settings.

Philipew asked about an overclock issue for a 6600k system. They mentioned using a Corsair H50 cooler and an ASUS Z170 motherboard, with the CPU set to 4.5Ghz at 1.35V. The stress test showed temperatures fluctuating but not exceeding concerns. Brandon suggested the overclock isn’t too aggressive and advised keeping temps below 70C under Prime95, noting that the current settings seem safe. He also shared his experience with similar temperatures and cautioned against long-term risks from the stress test.

BrandonTheGPU shared his experience regarding his overclock on a 6600k processor. He uses a Corsair H50 cooler and an ASUS Z170 motherboard. His CPU is set to 4.5Ghz at 1.35V, and he completed a stress test with Prime95. During the tests, his CPU temperature fluctuated between 83°C and lower values, but he is concerned about potential long-term effects. He notes that his current settings keep temperatures below 70°C under normal load, though he was initially worried about the stress test results. He suggests that his overclock might not be too aggressive and that manual adjustments could help maintain safe temperatures. He also mentions that similar temperatures were achieved before, and he is open to sharing his settings.
