This game is part of the Baldur's Gate series, available on various platforms including physical copies, GOG, and Steam Enhanced Edition. Many players keep purchasing it despite its challenges. However, understanding AD&D rules makes it manageable, while unfamiliarity makes it tough. The developers have come under criticism for their stance, and I’ve already asked for a refund.

I tried it during the releaseWink. Similar to NWN, it's a true masterpiece. Such games seem rare these days.

The game offers solid replay value and a satisfying experience, similar to titles like Lord of the Rings, The Witcher 3, and Skyrim. Right now I'm playing Diablo 2 with a new character on Nightmare, and I'm considering a retro approach to see if it works well. It should be possible to run it in fullscreen at 1440p.

It's a broad open world experience where story elements appear as optional missions and chapters, but there are too many distractions. The focus seems more on exploration rather than a tight narrative, similar to the feel of Skyrim, though with even more freedom to roam. The challenge can be tough because low-level D&D doesn't let you rest often—your mages only have a few spells between breaks, limited safe spots, and you're easily hit by enemies that disable or kill you quickly.

Oh, I appreciate the feedback! The game didn’t feel too supportive at first, but it has potential. It seems to resemble Diablo 2 in character size, which is a good sign. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and time!

You can really magnify the view to that level. It’s just that the assets are from 1998, and the original max resolution was 640x480, so the zoom on 1080p still appears fine. Very small: Just open it up and zoom in. Not the most detailed games, but you’d be surprised how enjoyable it can be if you manage to look past the old look.

Opposing gamergate isn’t inherently negative; after all, shouldn’t people feel free to share their views on important topics? The discussion here focuses on praising the game when you enjoy it, without judging others’ opinions.

Looking at Steam feedback suggests most complaints aren’t about a trans character or Gamergate humor, but rather about technical issues. It’s understandable to feel frustrated when opinions seem driven by unrelated controversies, especially without personal experience playing the game.
