I fixed the cover and now it spins again. I noticed there are only two slots instead of four, unlike what the cpuz suggested. The RAM stick is a 1RX8 DDR3L 1600, with a DIMM IC of D9QBJ, which matches the one I had in my previous rig. I’m planning to sell it since clocks are easy, but the trade-off is not great. I was hoping for a better deal, which is why I searched for it. Even increasing the voltage to 2.46 didn’t help. The main question is whether I need another DDR3L stick or if a regular DDR3 with the same IC and speed works. It seems people are overcharging for DDR3L. If I can’t find an exact match or a different brand but same specs (DDR3L, D9QBJ, 1600), I’d also like to know if it’s compatible with regular DDR3 and not stuck on DDR3L. Maybe selling the current stick and buying dual 4GB sticks would be better for my Minecraft performance. The single-channel, single-rank setup isn’t helping much. That’s a side thought—would there be any software to adjust DDR3 RAM timings in the OS? My BIOS doesn’t seem to support that, and I’m too lazy to dig through AMIBCs. If I’m a bit unstable, maybe it’s because I haven’t slept for 22 hours.
Then I’ll check for DDR3L options since it’s a voltage issue. If it’s limited by voltage, I’ll look for a RAM module that works at lower voltages. Usually 1600 is fine, but it’s a bit loose so I’ll pick something that matches an 8GB setup. This laptop is just a temporary example until I save up some money—I want to buy a car first with my computer funds because bragging rights matter.
