Remembering when the Ryzen 3000 leaks mentioned those 8-core Ryzen 5s and 10-core Ryzen 7s all hitting around 5GHz or higher? I’ll go with that info, but I’ll keep an eye out for any odd figures. The 35W TDP on a 10-core with HT boosting to 4.5GHz on the 12nm process sounds pretty tight.
I'm still using a 4790K on my desktop and a 6700K in my laptop. (I plan to upgrade soon when DDR5, then DDR6, and finally DDR7/8 appear.) I miss the fast changes of the 80s and 90s, even though I was young back then (born spring 1981). In my opinion, Coffee Lake Refresh or Comet Lake would have been better choices for Ivy Bridge. Or maybe the slowest new chips (like the IVB Celeron-Y) should have outpaced the fastest servers (many high-end Xeons), even if releases took every few years instead of regularly. Edit: That's enough! I was hoping to connect this with another post, but ... It's fine to say I dislike mobile interfaces. I really want a full desktop OS on my next small device.)
