s about the 10900k upgrade
I just found out I've won a LTX 10900k and Cryocooler package. Super excited! I need to significantly upgrade my setup to fit everything, and my main concern is whether the motherboard's power delivery is enough. In Linus' video, he uses an ASUS Maximus Extreme board with 16 phases. Is that too much, especially since the 10900k runs at those high speeds?
I'm using an ASUS Maximums Hero XII and it's working well. I run stock without the Intel power limit, keeping the CPU at 4.9ghz all the time. This outperforms my 6 and 8 core CPUs that are overclocked to 5.1ghz in games with few cores. With a 360mm AIO, I stay under 70°C even at 230 watts. At a 5.3ghz overclock, the CPU runs smoothly without crashing, though it may slow down in some high-end tests. It uses just over 330 watts. I might consider a push-pull configuration later, but for now I'm satisfied with the performance.
I'm reviewing that exact board. 14+2 looks promising, and I've been satisfied with ASUS before. I currently own a X Formula. Thanks for the feedback, and I'm holding off on the purchase until Intel confirms it—exciting!
